  1. This is parapuke adding a note before you read the following information
  2. about NetUp.  The Net31 CAN be placed prior to "NetUp Conversion Day" which
  3. the ZCs are looking at as November 1, 1992.  You also need to have both
  4. DE-Link.Zip and Net31.Zip available before this date.  As this is a change
  5. in the structure in which WWIVLink will send its BBSList files and Connect
  6. files, you must have both.   The reason for this change is VERY obvious to
  7. those of us who are having problems with updates due to the current Link
  8. Preprocessor (aka BUILD).  A great number of systems here in Zone 4 have 
  9. been having problems in that the connect.net file is not being processed
  10. correctly and it is dropping systems that we have available to us.

  12. I will notify you the day BEFORE I send out a NetUp update and this will
  13. be coordinated with all the other ZCs as well as the Link Ombudsman who will
  14. temporarily be handling all connections that occur between Zones.

  16. If you need either of these files, I have them both online for download now
  17. and will be UUCODEing the DE-Link.Zip to everyone next week.

  39. │ If you are running ONLY WWIVLink:                                         │

  41. │   First, unzip NET31.ZIP into your main BBS directory (the one with       │
  42. │   BBS.EXE in it).  Mine is C:\WWIV, but yours may be named differently.   │
  43. │   Next, unzip DE-LINK.ZIP into your main BBS directory.  Note that it     │
  44. │   will overwrite the DE1.EXE that is included in NET31.ZIP.  That's OK,   │
  45. │   because the DE1.EXE in the NET31.ZIP is for WWIVNET, not WWIVLINK.      │
  46. │   The DE1.EXE in the DE-LINK.ZIP is for WWIVLINK.  That's all you have    │
  47. │   to do; now you can get a cup of coffee (or your favorite beverage) and  │
  48. │   sit back and wait on network updates to come in.                        │

  52. │ If you are running MULTIPLE NETWORKS:                                     │

  54. │   I assume you already have NET31.ZIP installed in your main BBS          │
  55. │   directory, so we can skip directly to step two, which is unzip          │
  56. │   DE-LINK.ZIP into your WWIVLINK data directory.  Mine is C:\WWIV\DATA,   │
  57. │   but yours may be named differently.  That's all you have to do, and     │
  58. │   you can now join the folks running only WWIVLINK in enjoying your       │
  59. │   favorite beverage and waiting on network updates to come in.            │
